About FSSAI Registration
FSSAI or Food License is very much essential to run a food product business. The FBO is given a unique 14 digit number that is required to be printed on the food packaging. Types of FSSAI Registration License
As per the size of production, managing nature of food business activities and range of operation, there are three types of FSSAI license that are discussed below. -
FSSAI Basic License
If you are a small-scale food product maker, marketer, storage unit owner, retailer, or distributor, with a yearly turnover of up to 12 lakhs can apply for the Basic Registration.
FSSAI State License
FBOs which are not covered under the list of food businesses falling under the purview of Central Licensing authority (Schedule 1 of the FSS Regulations, 2011), but have a yearly turnover of more than 12 lakh up to 20 crore should apply for a state license. In general, all-grain, cereal, and pulse milling units, regardless of turnover, are mandatorily required to have a State FSSAI License.
FSSAI Central License
The Central License is mandatory for food business operators who operate in more than one state and their nature of business falls under Schedule 1 of the FSSAI Regulations, 2011. In general, FBOs having an annual turnover of more than 20 Cr are also required to get a Central FSSAI license.
